Built-in IEPE power supply: no signal conditioner needed

Every one of the six channels provides IEPE (ICP®) sensor power (22.5 V / 4.2 mA) directly from the Spider-30R. Plug standard IEPE accelerometers straight into the unit and start measuring, with no external power supply or signal conditioner to carry, power, or mount. TEDS (IEEE 1451.4) support lets the system read sensor information automatically.

Spider-30R Performance Advantages

Ultra compact size

At roughly the size of a coaster and less than a pound, the Spider-30R mounts where larger systems can't: on rigs, vehicles, rotating-machine housings, or inside tight enclosures. All of its connectors are on one side of the enclosure, so cables route cleanly and the unit can sit flush against a wall or machine. A single 24 VDC supply powers it, and it draws less than 6 W.

Six channels in a small package

Compact data collectors often force you to choose between size and channel count. The Spider-30R doesn't. It uses the same six-channel input architecture as our Spider-20HE, and its inputs are grouped on two 5-pin M-type connectors (channels 1–3 and 4–6). Each channel supplies its own IEPE sensor power, so two tri-axial accelerometers connect directly with no external conditioning, giving full X, Y, and Z coverage at two measurement points from one small unit. On a motor, for example, you can measure both the drive end and the non-drive end at the same time.

Ruggedized for real-world environments

The Spider-30R is designed to live in the field, and that starts with its connectors. Every connection (inputs, Ethernet, and power) uses a sealed, locking M-type connector that threads firmly into place and stays put under vibration.

Why M-type instead of BNC? BNC connectors are common on lab instruments, but they are not built for harsh environments. Their bayonet coupling can loosen, wear, and lose contact under continuous vibration or repeated shock, which shows up as intermittent signals, noise spikes, or dropped channels. That makes BNC a poor choice for installations on vehicles, test rigs, or running machinery. The Spider-30R's ruggedized M-type connectors are designed for exactly these conditions, so the sensor connection stays reliable where BNC connections would not.

The unit is rated for 50 g non-operating shock on all six sides, and an extreme-shock version rated to 1000 g is available for the harshest applications. It operates from −20 °C to +55 °C and can be stored from −40 °C to +70 °C.

Small Size - Uncompromising Measurement Quality

Being compact does not mean cutting corners on the signal chain. Every channel has its own 24-bit Sigma-Delta ADC, and sampling rates range from 0.48 Hz to 102.4 kHz in 54 steps, covering everything from slow structural motion to high-frequency bearing and gear signatures up to a 45 kHz bandwidth.

  • 140 dB dynamic range captures very small and very large signals in the same measurement.

  • 95 dB digital anti-aliasing with less than 0.1 dB pass-band ripple keeps the spectrum clean.

  • Tight channel matching (±0.05 dB amplitude, 0.15° phase at 20 kHz) supports cross-channel, transfer function, and phase analysis.

  • IEPE power and TEDS support (22.5 V / 4.2 mA; IEEE 1451.4) for plug-and-measure use with standard accelerometers.

  • Digital high-pass, low-pass, and band-pass filters built in.

Multi-functional Vibration Data Recorder

Because it combines precision, small size, and durability, the Spider-30R fits a wide range of work. The Spider-30R covers data acquisition, recording, and monitoring in one compact module.

Compact Data Acquisition

Six phase-matched channels for vibration and structural tests on rigs, vehicles, and tight spaces

Field Data Recorder

Internal SD storage (4 GB, up to 32 GB) and a real-time clock with scheduled auto power-on

Predictive Maintenance

Permanent installation next to motors, pumps, fans and gearboxes for periodic vibration monitoring

As a compact data collector: connect it to a PC over Ethernet and use it for vibration, modal, and structural measurements in the lab or in the field. Its size makes it a natural fit for aerospace and automotive field testing, where space and weight are limited.

As a data recorder: the non-removable internal SD card (4 GB standard, upgradable to 32 GB) provides local storage for measurement data. A built-in real-time clock with its own 10-year backup battery keeps accurate time (±3.5 ppm) and can power the unit on automatically, which is useful for unattended or scheduled data collection.

For predictive maintenance: install the Spider-30R permanently beside motors, pumps, fans, compressors, and gearboxes. With two tri-axial sensors per unit, it can collect the vibration data needed to spot imbalance, misalignment, looseness, and bearing wear early, before they lead to unplanned downtime.
